As Part of Reed College’s Alumni College: Artists, Creators & Craftspersons—Here, There, and Back Again , June 7-8, 2023
In this collaborative animation workshop, I led a group of Reed College alumni in the process of creating an embroidery animation in which each participant had the opportunity to embroider a Reed Griffin mascot in their own unique style, introducing along the way a new approach and ethos to looking at handcrafted textiles and visual media. For the animation, I designed a loop of seven illustrations of the Griffin used throughout the institution’s history morphing into each other, illustrating the ever-changing and yet perpetually connected nature of the college’s community, representative in the coming together of multigenerational alumni to learn, play, and congregate during Alumni College and Reunions.
