Twin Peaks MIDI Sweatshirt
Designed and Embroidered March-April 2025
Inspired by a concurrent work-in-progress in translating Conlon Nancarrow’s Studies for Player Piano into embroidery, I turned to an oft-referenced sequence in Angelo Badalamenti’s “Laura Palmer’s Theme” for Twin Peaks—which makes figurative twin peaks in the MIDI layout of the piece—to make a garment for my partner Morgan for her 30th birthday. I fused this concept to the original logo for the show and the preposterous population, as denoted on the sign seen in the opening credits, to create a multiply mediated representation of the show, a favorite of both mine and Morgan’s, who is currently rewatching it alongside some friends. RIP David Lynch!
